FAMILY FUN!

I just had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Fino Family. They have an adorable and very energetic little boy. This session reminded me how important it is to have a plan when photographing children while also being flexible enough to capture those candid moments of love.

I have found the best way to photograph children is to allow them to play. Getting a preschooler to pose for an hour is very nearly impossible. By asking the family to play and interact with each other it is a much more fun experience for everyone.

I am grateful that they allowed me to capture these moments. I am still rebuilding an relaunching my business so this session was a welcomed opportunity to refresh my child photographing skills.

5 Tips for Photographing Kids

1) Photograph them as they are. Don't try to force the smile. Let them be goofy and silly. Let their personality shine through.

2) Don't tire them out! A tired kid is a cranky kid. A cranky kid is not having fun and neither is anyone else.

3) Get down on their level. Physically squat down. Make eye contact. Engage with the kid.

4) Don't put the camera down! Be ready for those candid moments! Kids move quick, you never know when they are about to give you that perfect shot!

5) Be patient and focus on having fun!

Pregnancy Annoucement

So a little bit of a Throwback Thursday to announcing our pregnancy last summer. I found this super cute sign on Etsy from "PersonalizedChalk" (https://www.etsy.com/shop/PersonalizedChalk). It was the perfect way to incorporate our fur baby into our announcement. This Etsy shop emailed me the digital .jpeg within two days, then we headed out to our favorite park!

It was a quick, easy, and  fun way to share our good news!

Pregnancy annoucements are the best when they are done in a way that is meaningful to the couple.  Take your time, you can check out Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. And don't be afraid to try something totally different!

Took a hike with the puppy through First Landing National Park, got some good exercise and some great images. Plan on going back in the near future with some friend as to do a cool shoot.

KDG Photography

So like most teenagers with a camera I thought of myself as a photographer, an artist with a unique perspective of the world... And like my most teenagers I had a lot to learn. Now I am a student of photography and working to to improve my skill and art. The words "professional" and "photographer" keep getting thrown around in reference to me so I figure it's time to focus. This and my SmugMug site are my places to begin sharing my images and showing the world what I have to offer.
